Is it really worth it?

I just started college on Friday and I'm not too sure I'll have the time to play my favorite game, World of Warcraft :p It takes up around 3 hours to do an endgame instance, and about 8-12 hours to do Molten Core with a team. So... upon visiting this forum out of boredom and noticing the Eve board, I might actually think of playing it.

Thing is, I beta'd the game, and wasn't too impressed. Sure, it had a market and an amazing graphics engine, but I personally felt the gameplay was lacking. It was so bloody slow that I nearly fell asleep shooting at a damn pirate. I'm wondering if they improved upon the gameplay at all, and if it's any more fun, rather than an orgasmic experience of eye candy.

Also, looking at all the posts on this board, it seems to me piracy in the game is a huge problem. Joining in at this point in the universe, would there really be any hope of actually "catching up" to the level the pirates are at to actually accomplish something besides mining the s### stuff?

Age isnt always everything.
I've taken down an Armageddon (Battleship) pilot twice my age with a Thorax (Cruiser).
If you understand the abilities of the ships and their equipment, you can do a lot more.
Its all tactics.
Leet Al > I have sh###y charisma, so I compensate by using 7 heatsinks on my Armageddon
