missionbriefing isn't readable

Hi,

first of all: my english isn't the best on, but I hope you can understand it.

After a long time, I decided to install Freespace II again. But now I have some Problems with the mission briefings:
I just can see die graphics in the middle of the screen. The text in the bottom of it always disappears after nearly a half second. I just can see it, when I choose the forward- or reversebutton. Also the headline "Missionbriefing" (in the top on the left side) isn't readable.
Except of this, the rest is okay. I have no problems with the ships- or weaponschoice, also the summary of the briefing is okay too.
My first thought was, that there could be a problem because now I use Windows XP. When I played it the last time I used Win 98. I tried to upgrade my version, but than I get the message, that I'm still using the newest one.

So it would be great if some of you guys could help me. Of course, it's not that big problem, but i would like it to work correctly.

Thanks for your attention.

Have you tried the SCP?

Lot of bug-fixes have been made on that... unfortunately, I don't use XP so I can't replicate your problem.

Well, I tried it the hole afternoon but it don't won't to work. When I start this programm, first the screen gets whiter, after a few seconds black and than it runs and runs and runs and.. Some minutes later I get the windows-xp-standart-message "Windows XP noticed an error and had to terminate this programm" (I hope i translated it correctly..). Is there something special I can do?

You're running it using the launcher?
