Flood control and topic editing

I understand the benefits of post flood control, but it gets to be slightly annoying when I attempt to edit a post just after posting it and get told, "You cannot post so soon after your last post" for the next thirty seconds. 
Is there any way to disable flood control for editing alone, or would turning it off altogether possibly be an option? Since the community here is small enough, I don't think we have too much to worry about in the way of uber-spammers posting once every five seconds.
