Title speaks for itself.

What with the announcement that only legit copies of XP will be receiving updates in the future, I need to buy one - Again. I did own a copy of XP, and still do, but for some reason the key stopped working after a format, one time. After that, I used a keygen to keep it running.

probably the cost of buying XP again... However, SP2 is roumored to use your old SP1 keycode, so thats a possible workaround, if you don't mind the SP2 suckage...

You can buy windows?

(actually, I've never updated it anyways; it fails every time on my work XP laptop, and the service pack for my Win2000 proper computer actually breaks it)

I actually bought a copy of XP Home, but it was so temperamental and buggy that I ended up 'swapping' to Pro instead.

That's odd. My family's PC has XP Home, and it's been as solid as a rock since we installed it. In fact, my PC with XP Pro has more bugs. :P

I only use the professional versions. I have XP Pro and 2k Pro. The Xp pro doesn't need authorization. ;)

Yes it does, at least for some versions. I know because mine bitched and moaned about it.

Supposedly mine is the corporate edition. That could be it. :)

Yeah, that's it. That's the one that doesn't require authentification. The OEM and Retail versions do, IIRC.

You, know there are times where I wonder if that's not the best solution, Goob.
