Now recently I've demoted myself to 'lurker' but all I ever see (especially in Rants) is topics on HLP. Whether it be "OMG oMG!1 HLPee is d0wn!" or "I really hate that guy on HLPee, I think I'll b**ch about him".

You don't know how bloody annoying it is when I look at the topic list and have to systematically eliminate topics I think might be HLPee related.

Here's a visual example for you (shaded = HLPee whining):
This is SG, that is HLP. This is SG, that is HLP. This - SG, that - HLP. SG, HLP.. SG, HLP... Why not whine on HLPee itself?

Thats my rant. Blame Christmas.

Little to much eggnog?

The way I look at it(sorry Hunter), SG Rants is kind of like the friend's basement that we come to gossip and b**ch about other folk that make arse's of themselves. Truth be told, I'd much rather discuss things here, as there is less ridiculing going on and more facts being exchanged. HLP has too many Ego masses that have to get their way in an argument, on both sides.

Actually thats one of the reasons why I've taken a reduced role in running this place, and appointed moderators to keep things in check. There just isn't much going right now, and since HLP is the main part of the Freespace community, it tends to make it into the discussions often.

Well, blame me for this... I started that Kazan is annoying thread, and it mutated into these others.

But what is your gripe? You're free to ignore all of the threads you want. This is for rants, after all... And we are ranting... (Except for where they are plotting in that cobra thread)

Yeag, they are different forums, but this is Rants... If people are ranting about something, it perfectly fits the title... Sure, we plot too, but thats just one way of getting rid of anger...

And if we rant like this on HLP, we'll get banned quick, after getting flamed to a crisp. This is the only place we can grumble about people.

It's a lot more fun to rant about people behind their back.

Well, the HLP bashing is bound to wear off eventually, or it's gonna turn into GW bashing, but even there, we call them idiots to their faces... Once teh n00bs leave, this place will be back to normal ...

I know what you mean. It means the rants about HLP decrease in frequency and there's less evil plotting against n00bs.
