Very simple, but it is my first actual render (as opposed to a MV Copy and Paste job). The ship up ahead is a presently unreleased TI ship made by Flipside, so I can't give away too many details until the OR release (In which it features prominently).

what did you do that in btw (ie, how did you get the light source to be shown by the ships?)

3DS Max 3, and the light source shows up because it's actually a render, as opposed to the MV cut and paste jobs I normally do.

I like it greatly, but the engine glows on the Perseii look a bit, well, odd.

BTW, what is that ship they are streaking towards? It looks like a Nebulon B.

Effectively. It's not the first time I've hit the render button, but it's the first time where I've actually sat down with the intention of making a showable render. Also the first time I ever worked with multiple ships, or with multiple lights.

That said, I did have the benefit of... about 3 years of looking at others renders, reading comments and suggestions given to them, which allowed me to fix some common mistakes (No crappy sun, motion blur on the fighters etc. etc.. Also note that there's no weapons fire or anything particularly complex in that, which meant that there was almopst no post production that could hav looked tacky and damaged the final quality.
