You'll need to be a bit more specific - are you trying to use LAN multiplay for example, or FS2DNet?

What Black wolf was on about is your settings in FS2. If FS2 thinks you're trying to play a LAN game when you're trying to play online then nothing will happen.
Press F2 and look at your multi settings.
If you're playing on FS2 Retail your s### out of luck. PXO went down a while back and that means that the only way you can play online with someone isif you have an IP address for them.
FS2_Open however has it's own PXO replacement.

Yeah, I found out that I have to have the disk in, even in freespace open. And I found out PXO was out, seams like I've herd that it was gone before and probly forgot it. Also I play in FSOpen 3.6.

PXO never appeared to have more than half a dozen people in, at best, anyway

Now I have another problem. In FSOpen it says it can't connect to the server.

That can't be right. FS2_Open doesn't check for anything on the disks.

Go to the FS2 SCP forums over at HLP, pull up the thread that says 'FS2DNET', and click on the link there.
