Is anyone else really pissed of about the new Smiley rule, smilies are fun, why restrict their use? If anyone doesn't like them they can turn them off in their options. And also Hippo-crite is an offender. See http://www.sectorgame.com/forums/viewto ... f9983d291f

No rule was enforced, it's just a recommendation. Hippo doesn't mean every post, just not an excessive use of them.

How many times have i said that the new rule does not apply to past posts? How many times have I asked you to take matters up with me privately?

Yes, I was wrong about locking threads. I admitted that already, but when i see A: people posting insane amounts of smilies, with no point to their post; or B: people posting smilies for the single purpose to ANNOY ME, then i decide to say something about it.

Like Hunter said, I did not ban smilies, I made a statement that people should use them more wisely.

Was the whole thing about the rule applying in other forums a bunch of hot air Hunter? Or is this actually a rule for all forums? I mean, I had a bit of a laugh at it actually, precisely because it was Hammertime Hippo posting it, but if it's something being applied to all forums then obviously either you (or Flip I suppose now) are behind it as well.

Like I said, no rule was enforced, nor was I aware of the post "indicating" there may be a select few abusing the smiley system. As far as I'm aware, there are no problems and never have been. That's why this place is pretty good. Whatever internal disputes you have between each other are your concern, so please don't start any personal attacks in disguise - Rant all you want, though.

Seriously, posts consisting of smileys, or abusive numbers of smileys probably are a good thing to keep an eye on.
