Well, I've finally got my 3GHz render-server almost at working level, and by God does the b#stard fly ;)

My only problem is that, as soon as the Hard Drive spins, this godawful rattling noise comes from the case, so until I find out what's causing it, I can't leave the damn thing running all night :(

The KVM module is a dream come true though, tap a key and your screen changes to the second computer, as does the mouse and keyboard, so much better than having to use 2 monitors etc :D

Yeah, I had it put together by the shop, and he didn't push the IDE lead in hard enough, so I've had to go into the case once already, should be easy to fix, I either need to tighten a screw somewhere or put rubber washers on the hard-drive mount :)

Oh, and for the Technophiles among you....

3Ghz Intel P4
1Gb DDR Memory
Asus P4P800SE Motherboard
Radeon 9200 128Mb on 8x AGP (For OpenGL on Modeller)
120 Gb Hard Drive, pretty good speed, can't find box.
Crappy little onboard Soundcard atm.

Heh. that's comparable (according to AMD) to my system...:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
1 Gb DDR 400 RAM
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
Radeon 9600XT 256Mb on 8x AGP
20Gb HDD
40 Gb 7200RPM HDD
On board sound.

LOL Well, I'm not planning to be playing games on it, it'll be running 24 hours rendering stuff up, so I didn't really need an uber card ;)

The whole AMD/Intel thing is like Creative/Nvidia, I've heard so many equal and opposite views that I honestly don't care anymore, the only reason I got Intel was because I do know that Lightwave prefers it :)

I've got a GeForce something-or-other with 128 megs of RAM, what's the problem?

I have Nvidia in one computer, and Creative in the other, to be honest, the GeForce performs better, but then, it is a 5600 with 256Mb of memory ;)
