Quick PCS Question.....

I don't remember Bobb's link off by heart, and HLP is down so I can't check, so can anyone remember where destroyed sub-objs go in the hierarchy when building COB files?

I generally put them right after the object. I'm not sure if it really matters, though so long as it says 'subobject name - destroyed'

Right?

And 'Subobject name - Debris01' for the breakaway pieces?

Is the space in the ' - ' important? It keeps including it as part of the Lod0 model.

I don't know about PCS, but I was looking at the Sobek in Truespace and the hierarchy went:

vcorvettea(group name)
---->vcorvettea(model name)
---->turret01
---->turret01-destroyed
---->turret02
---->turret02-destroyed

and so on.

There was no space in the name of the destroyed subobjects.

*edit*
Forgive me, all the models are on the same level within the vcorvettea group. They are not subbed to the main vcorvettea model.

Yeah, may be best to not use spaces. But it may not matter. I'm not entirely sure.

I think I've got it working. No spaces, do not group your Lod0 into a detail0 group, just leave it inside the original 'Entire Model' group :)

anyone know what the poly limit is for sub-objects ? I nearly always get the shards of death ?

Around 850 per subobject in retail, something like 15000 in FSO.

20? i find that difficult to beleive...

besides, ive seen a rotating turret with 300 faces...
