Mirrors Edge is way too short and has a rubbish ending, but the concept of the game is good. I think it's an entirely new genre. FEAR wasn't bad. Finished that up in about two days, good shooter but terrible level design. FEAR 2 is looking to be awesome though. Actually the video clip I posted in the Descent section is from Mirror's Edge.

Yahtzee is good for a laugh. You don't actually trust his reviews, do you? He isn't a critic, he's a comedian. The fact that he spent most of his time complaining about how often he'd died horribly tells you only that he hates Mirror's Edge because he isn't good enough at it and the fact that he remarked that the game is essentially a lengthened demo only tells you that he is reviewing the demo.

Isn't mirror's edge that one game where you like have to go through pretty much an obstacle course to get somewhere?

Well not really, it could be said that getting there is the game, not the destination. I think the main reason people dislike mirrors edge is because they buy it with preformed misconceptions of what it will be like, and expect it to be an FPS with freerunning elements. They are dissapointed when they find out that it isn't like that, but is more a freerunning game with FPS elements, making it pretty much unique, and more of a new genre itself than anything else.

Yes, but the game lacks in that department too. Many times there are breaks in the free running where you are left deciding where to go, what to jump from/to etc. It's a nice attempt at a new genre, and hopefully coming games will improve where it failed.

*Fights down urge to say Hunter encounters that problem because he is bad*
But yeah, it does happen once or twice but I wouldn't call it a failure.

Ask anyone who has played it. They'll find the same problem with breaks in the flow. Has nothing to do with being 'bad' at it.
