I like Tropico 3, but don't you think it gets a bit shallow in sandbox once you pass the point of no return and thus are raking in dosh?

There is a bit of a feeling that everything is crowded in at the start, I'll agree, the first 5 years are an absolute panic of trying to keep everyone happy at once, but then it mostly centres around building houses, churches and entertainment. I suppose my main complaint would be that you know within about 5 years of starting whether it's worth continuing or not.

That's more or less true of anything, I expect.

Heh, probably true
The other thing that really winds me up is the fact that buildings don't always hook up to the road system correctly, and it's very difficult to fix, that and the inability to cycle through buildings of the same type (as far as I can tell) are probably the two most dissapointing parts of it. Not that it's a bad game, but because the Construction yard can get way behind on jobs, sometimes you can end up not remembering whether you've built stuff yet or not.

What is Tropico 3? is there a demo?

Yes
http://www.bigdownload.com/games/tropic ... co-3-demo/
It's a City-Builder game based on an Island in the Pacific, so it's about farming Coffee, fighting Rebels and trying to stay on the right side of both Superpowers. It's more tongue-in cheek than simulation, but still pretty fun to play

That game was not meant for single-core processors. :/

Hmmm... I'd suggest your problem may lay more in your graphics card, I've got a dual core, but I've had islands running with well over 1000 citizens without any noticeable slowdown.

I turned visual effects to the absolute minimum. It looked like crap. It ran like crap. :/

Well, single cores are rather outdated nowadays. Even my C2D is behind the times now.

Don't say that aldo, you make me and my wallet cry.
(And my motherboard at the thought of being replaced, but let's not go there)

C'est la vie.
Look on the bright side, it'll probably cost you exactly as much to upgrade, but without the $1000 (converted) middle-stage.

I mean what about the 1000$? I could put a quad-core compatible mobo AND a quad core processor in for less than that >.> And still have money left for a 2nd video card to boot.
