There might be an online hardware checker, though it would probably require an ActiveX control to be installed.

Why is it that all these programs can see whats on the computer, but the admin who's physically in front of the computer, can't? Shouldn't there be some menu or some command line I can go to?

Fine. Be that way. 
Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Information
The mainboard should be listed as the System Model. Keep in mind that the information in that program isn't as accurate as the information displayed in Everest.
