He's not perma-banned, just perma-monkeyed. He can still post anywhere except Hard Light and its subforums.

He says he's been too annoyed with work lately (which is programming) to think about programming in his spare time. That, and he just got married. So he has a few excuses. But I'm not holding my breath either. :)

I've had it with HLP these days. The straw that broke the camel's back was the addition of non-admin moderators to HLP main. It's overkill, it's nonsense, and it's going to stifle discussion.

Oh, and the whole "we're rearranging the support forums... because." isn't washing very well either. You could reorg until hell freezes over and it won't change the fact that HLP cannot focus on it's modding and "straight edged" style any more - it's a community forum now, whether the admin wasn't to admit that or not.

EVEN SG has flipping dark sector, saucy sector etc.

Given that all three of them are here you might need to explain why it's stifling discussion to have non admin moderators.

It might stifle flaming and spam but I don't see a single effect it's had on discussion yet.

To be honest, I can't see any way why having more moderators is bad. It's only bad if they're total dicks, and that isn't the case.

Damn right. I'm still working on totality :D

Because there's no actual need for them - and we all know the dangers of idle hands...

Oh come on. I don't think any of us can claim to be idle. I intend to do as little work moderating Hard Light as possible. I'd love to have nothing to do as a moderator.

I doubt Flipside or Taristin is going to be closing stuff just because they can either.

To steal a quote, idle hands are not the devil's workshop. That is a base canard. Rather, it is the sort of hand that is constantly driven to do something new, constantly turning to new machinations, that you need to worry about.

(Dear god, and to think I'm quoting one of my Robotech novels.)

Vyper's bitter because they're kicking him out of Grognards. Now, I have to question Fury's sanity posting what he did when he did myself, but I suppose I expected this, so it's not so insulting.

See this is the stuff I knew was going to be brought up eventually. It's nothing to do with that and more to do with the fact I honestly believe HLP is once again being run using the "panic panic panic" button.

edit: Hell this latest shuffle is like watching a corporate manager go "REORG!" at the first sign of difficulty.

Except that people have been saying that they needed stronger (and better) moderation on Hard Light for over a year.

Hardly a symptom of panic.

It seemed reasonable enough; you have a rather offended tone here and on HLP. Appearance vs. reality, perhaps, but the reality has to be made known.

Not all people have been saying it. Those that are happy with the status quo don't say anything because they have nothing to complain about.

If you were happy with the status quo why the hell have you spent the last year or so saying that you never go to HLP cause it's crap now?

Hm, I was offered a position at HLP back when it started - I should've taken it now, and now I'd be CEO, mwahaha... haha.. hah. Eww.

You appear to have me confused with someone else kara...
