Keep in mind that the 9 series is more power efficient than the 8 series.

I was adding that as an aside. Seeing as the thread is about purchasing a PSU.

From what I can tell, the nForce 430 mobo on my PC only have PCI-E 1.0a, not 1.1, again seriously limiting my options, AFAIK, a PCI-E 2.0 card won't work with 1.0a. Anyone have any recommendations for this now? :/ At this point I'm seriously looking at just waiting until I get a job and building my own PC, this damn computer is popping up some many barricades.

Don't get me wrong, its an amazing computer and I got it for about 300$ below retail, it just wasn't meant for serious gaming obviously

it depends who you ask... Some places say it's only backwards compatible with 1.1, and others say its 100% backward compatible with ALL PCI-E slots.

PCI2e is compatible with any PCIe 1.x version based on the specification (http://www.pcisig.com/news_room/faqs/pcie2.0_faq/), however I've read that some chipsets are more temperamental than others (VIA and Asus I think in particular).

Basically it should work if motherboards meet specifications, but - like HTML in IE - it very well may not.

Will it work with an nforce 430? AFAIK that's what my compuer has, as that's what the 6150SE comes attached to.

I don't know, it came with te computer. All I know is that it's an nforce 430. Oddly enough, I can't find ANYTHING that matches it, at least with I looked. All the ones on new egg give it 2 memory slots, mine has 4.

What about on the BIOS config at startup? (can't remember what version info is usually displayed offhand, but might have handy info)

I don't even know what BIOS is, and and nothing really stays up long enough to read it.

Download EVEREST: Home Edition. It will most likely be able to tell you everything hardware-related about your PC.

Is there an alternative to download some software?
