Meh. Still looks kinda simple. maybe if you added extra armor plates...

Do you even have FreeSpace?

Freespace is extremely boring, IMO...

But it looks like an OK model nontheless.

And strider, armor plates are usually textures, of which this ship has none.

I demand that you leave the internets, Matthew.

Not necessarily. Look at the Galactica for an example, or (for an example of that design without ribbing between the inner hull and armour) the Pegasus or Stargate ships. All have armour structures that would look better with modelled detail than textured, and which wouldn't be excessively large.

You can never have enough armor...

Except that modelled armor usually = more computer load... Not that that's an issue on an old game like freespace, but...

eh? Sorry, but that's frankly a load of tosh.

Armour is simply a part of the hull, it's no different to having three engines rather than two. I think you're making a classic mistake of looking at how textures are used in low-poly FS2 models and applying that to how the end result of modelling armour would look.

Having 30 textures, all being TCov01a is more likely to cause slowdown.

I say finish it. Get it ingame. Looks at it as experience, if little else. I always started stuff then abandoned it when I wasn't really happy with the result.

Final result many hours grafted very little to show.
That may be typical of all modelers though. I dunno.
