It reminds me of our schooltrip to Barcelona... with the current laws, you can buy a bottle of water at the duty free shop after the check in, but you can't open it until you land. If you are thirsty on the plane, you have to ask for water to the hostess.

I bought a bottle of water at the duty free shop and opened it because I was very thirsty and our flight was 2 hours late. When we landed, I opened my hand luggage and... nobody told me I couldn't have an opened water bottle in the hand luggage, bought before take-off! So much for airport security...

I remember once seeing a comment from an airline pilot on the subject of the liquids ban. And it basically this (paraphrased)

"I'm the pilot. I don't NEED a bomb to crash the plane."

You'd have thought security might have realised that fact at some point. :)

Hm. Putting the lappy in the hold is out of the question though.. Bang-bash shall we say ;)
