During a Billy Connolly show, he reported an (un-named) american comedian said eating vegimite was like licking a cat's bum.

Vegimite is quite nice, an aquired taste I can understand yeah. But most kids are brought up on it here, so its rare you find an Aussie who doesn't like it.

And yup, I like Marmite (the name for Vegemite over here) but not too much else it's overpowering

Yeah, I like it when it's mixed with another dairy product like butter or cheese. How I love cheese. *drools*

Some people I know have bread on their vegimite... which is a bit too strong for me. =o

I grate the cheese and sprinkle it over a light Marmite-ed slice of bread and then grill the lot till it's sizzling
