Oops. Guess that's one of the implications of not being a native English speaker ^^
I understood retail as a demo or a Gold Edition or sumethin.
I'm ashamed.
Now I guess I actually DO have retail.

Should I dl' Open Source or should I do something else?

I've always said that if you're having a problem with retail you should see if you can resolve that first before moving on to Open.
However if no one has any ideas how to resolve your problem I suggest trying it.

Ok ok I thought to myself "stop harassing this good guys with newbie questions" and succesfully installed SCP. I used the hi-res weapons models and some of the mv files. But I've got a new, much more annoying bug. Starting on mission 1, whenever I target a friendly ship, or get too close to it, or for no reason, the game crashes. I am very sure it has something to do with the models, but I haven't been able to solve it.
Regarding the previous error, I changed to OpenGl and succesfully overcame the old problem.
edit: I think the error is caused by targeting the Myrmidon or getting too close to it.

It's no bother answering questions which aren't covered in my FAQ or on the wiki (I'll just link if they are covered though

).
A crash on targetting is actually a fairly serious problem. Quite simply any crash where the game doesn't report the problem is worth mentioning because programs shouldn't display that sort of behaviour.
Basically this is one of those "Help us to help you" situations. Telling us that the game crashes isn't much help. The best thing you can do is to run the corresponding debug version and tell us what error that reports on crashing.
If you aren't running it already get yourself to HLPs Recent Builds forum and download 3.6.9 RC3. That should be the most stable version of FS2_Open around as well as the most recent. If that does crash then report back and I'll be happy to suggest some other things you can try.

Here
HLP is the biggest FS2 site. All the really big news and releases tend to happen there. SG is much smaller but much friendlier.
What you linked to is the SCP website which is mainly used by the developers at the moment.

Uhhh I'm sick of not knowing things. Now it tells me some mumbo-jumbo about a dll! Know where I can get my clutches on those?
The name is OpenAl32.dll

Ah yes. You definitely need OpenAL installed to use anything from after 3.6.7. You can find it
here.

If you EVER need anything about Starcraft, Ogre Battle, Myth or Metal Gear, ask me.
Thanks for everything, the game looks superb with the open source.
Now if I can make the subach reappear, I'll have reached Nirvana. I just need to toy around with mods n stuff...

|Not a problem. The more people who play FS2 the longer there will be an FS2 comunity for me to hang out in
Plus it means a larger audience for my own mods and campaigns

I'll be sure to check those out.
Any ideas why the Subach beam is invisible? The glow and the blast appear, but not the beam

I think someone has mentioned that on HLP. Graphical issues in the 3.6.8 Delta VPs. It should be sorted by the time the official 3.6.9 ones are released.

Nevermind then, thanks a ton.
I'm already more than happy with what I've got.
