You have to be market-wise and not fall to people who are sneaky and underhand, but living on planet Earth should harden you up to that
I've managed to get by very well on mining and manufacturing, I'm not quite sure where this image of SG being full of leet gankers with offices in the darkest recesses of 0.0 hell came from, but to be honest, we are far more interested in building stuff than shooting other players. Better to skin 'em a little 100 times than skin 'em a lot once
It's all about being aware, I know places where you can effectively sell certain items at twice the price they are sold at one jump away. I guess in a way I am preying on Noobs and their lack of knowledge of regional borders, but then, also, I'm just trying to get the best bang for my buck

Whee. I'll probably stop by sometime soon, assuming I don't go the wrong way (whether by accident, or on purpose in a fit of stupidity) and get blown up.
NGTM-1R is the username.

That's the hardest thing for me right now is staying in the black earnings wise.
You also have to have a pair and not wallow in self pity and doubt all the time.

"Devious" or "Sneaky" and "Thinking Tactician" often appear to be the same thing, but they're not...
Geez, I would have played this for the music alone, though. I never thought I'd saw this, but it's better the Homeworld's soundtrack, better then Halo's soundtrack. Best ever.

Welcome to the party

And don't worry if you do get blown up, it happens from time to time, even getting your pod popped is not the end of the world, though it can be expensive, but frigates etc are cheap, most corps can build you new frigates without too much trouble

Cruisers etc are more, but money can be obtained very easily through either legal or not-so-legal means.
I think Eve is very good for both new and old players alike, just as it is pretty fair to inustrialist and pirate alike in it's own way, there are pros and cons to both ways of life.

Though it is MUCH better to the established player with a corp at his back than it is to noobs who have to fight both the game and the Corps for their lives.

The NPC corps are there just for when you start off. The idea is to join a player corp once you've figured enough out to mine and shoot basically.

There's not a corp in the world that would have a whiney little b**ch like me. Sure I can mine and I can fight(not well), but my hours are such that I would not likely be around for corp functions. S'why I like UoC, no one telling me when or where to be. I've pretty much settled on the fact that i'll never make obscene amounts of money and I'll never see any of the truly magnificent parts of the game, but that's okay, it pretty much mirrors my RL.

Kinda funny. I just got shot at by another player for the first time.
In 0.9 space. It was at the newbie station, and his ship was just like mine, apparently, so I guess he was new and arrogant or new and stupid.
It was rather frightening for about five seconds, then the sentry guns and local cops laid waste.
Fun stuff, fun stuff. I almost hope it happens again.
