Hehehe, we have family who grow sugar cain for the Bundy Rum. ^_^
Rum is really taking off on tap now, its in the sport bars too now and most pubs. $3 a pot seems the standard price too.
Tis awsome. ^_^

I don't know of a single uni in the Uk which doesn't have at least 1 pub/bar on premises. Strathclyde had at least 3, I think (dunno about the Jordanhill campus), and it's not even particularly big.

We have one on campus and one just across the road (though that's something of a deceptive description - it's just across the road from the student housing, but there's the footy oval and the main staff carparks between it and any actual uni buildings, so nobody goes there during the day.

You don't have one?
Campuses in the US are supposed to be 'drug free.'
So no alcohol, limited smoking... etc.

There is a really nice pub on the Saint Mary's campus. Open Mic night on Wednesdays. Great fun.

Considering that the majority of people on a US college campus are underage, I doubt the school administration would be too happy with pubs opening on campus grounds.
$5k a year for college? That's pennies. A few of the private universities I applied to had tuitions that hovered slightly above
$40k per year. My own school (the University of Delaware) charges around $17k per year for out-of-state students. (It's kind of semi-state and semi-private; I'm not positive as to how much funding it receives from the state of Delaware.) If it weren't for my almost-full scholarship, my family and I would be paying that one off for many years.

Well it all depends on which course you do. There are some private colleges that charge through the roof aka like above. But generally the stock standard ones are around the $7k a year mark.
A bachelor(aka degree) only takes 3years full time as well.
Anywho, had my first day today. Same old stuff as when I went to the smaller place, but a lot more people and generally a more "meh" attitude. Which I like. ^_^
Had a walk around the place before my lecture started to get my bearings on the place. So I think I can find my way through the uni, now its just figuring out the walk from the uni to central station.

All fun and games. ^_^
Damn its cold at night though, what a pain in the arse, as most of my subjects are in the evenings, finishing at 8 or 9pm, which lets me get home before 11pm'ish.
It's a tough life but someones gotta do it.

Rum by tap?
Are we talking the 40% rum, or some odd name for a brand of beer? How large would an average drink be, then?

Honours is optional as is Phd.
I'm thinking depending how fed up I am with study I might go on to further study, maybe even become a Doctor. ^_^
More likely I'd want to work by then and make some $$$ and think about finding a wife and family...
Maybe part time, who knows. The world is my oyster, as the saying goes...

It's premixed of course, being on tap. Rum and Cola. And the staandard drink for non pussies is a pint, though a lot of pubs over here have stopped selling it by the pint... arseholes.

And the random gained knowledge of today, is that the local convenience store does not card people!
Just learned that a few minutes ago...

The more entertaining feature of this particular store is their staff...
There's an overly obese white man with a large head who never speaks, but rather grunts. His fingers are ths size of... Well, lets just say very large...
There's an old white woman, easily in her 80's with those evil looking glasses, who stares down everyone like they're about to pull a gun - and she loks ready to pull one back...
And there's a man of Middle-Eastern descent, who smiles at all the customers, asks how they're doing, has a nice temperment, and is all around a nice guy.
Theres also another woman who wors there who isn't around very often, but she has hair that's at least a foot tall...
