Some forms of cider are alcoholic, yes. Not all of them but some.

All Cider is apple Cider. And real Cider is more than simply 'alcoholic'. There is a pub in Somerset that will give you £100 if you can walk in a straight line through the door, without touching the frame, after 2 pints of Scrumpie (Home made Cider).
What you are describing sounds more like carbonated apple juice.

Only cider we have in the states is nothing more than spiced apple juice. Tastes good, though; there's a local brand stationed right around the corner from where I live.
