Well, don't give up hope. Star Wars 3 is coming out next year and even tho its nothin like Freespace if were lucky it will renew everyones intrest in space games. Just hope it has a lot of space combat in it. :)

Only if it had the same ending as originally planned.

If the new one is anything like the last two, people would flee away from space games.

The only problem with :V: is THQ.

THQ would rather make Finding Nemo, Hot Wheels™ Stunt Track Challenge™, SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom, Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown etc etc. (copid and pasted from their website)

Its whatever brings in the benjamins to them...

That isn't what makes you a newbie. This entire thread makes you a newbie. It's pretty clear in the Wiki that the community in general doesn't like the topic.

I guess When the Freespace community don't like the word of Freespace 3 then it is gone. But, I understand whats he's saying, like on the 0.00001% chance tommorow that Volition did say that they would make Freespace 3 if you would support it. And even tho I know this has a 0.0000000000000001% of ever happening, this is a fact if you would go out a buy it. I would. And He might not have read the stuff at Wiki I know I haven't.

Karajorma posted either from his earlier. This topic could very easily start flame wars... not here, but on HLP or possibly NodeWars.

Also, after being told that 'most of the community doesn't like this being brought up' most people get the hint and drop the subject.

I can understand the desire to ask questions, but that's why the community provides the FAQ/Wiki to answer the questions without touching off another round of the same debate we're having right now.

I really haven't thought of Freespace 3 for the past year or so , but I did get excited when they realesed more of Freeaspace 2, but it fizzled out. The gaming market looks bad for us.I love aircraft simulations and realistic war games ,but the amount of FPS out there is ridiculous. When will they have enough? I don't get why people didn't like Freespace 2 like crazy. I played Freespace and loved it the, demo FS2 and had to get it. Found it in a bargin box at EB for $7 very lucky find. :D

I had a line in the original version of my FAQ which I felt quite apt. I suppose I should put it back in now that the Derek Smart thing has died down again. Hmmmm. Let me revise it now.

The people in the community love Freespace. Talking about FS3 is like continually reminding someone about the death of a loved one. While the odd comment about them might be tolerated, continually talking about them is tactless and hurtful. It reminds them of their loss. Of all the things they'll never be able to do with the one they so dearly miss.
Remember that the community has talked about FS3 a lot. We've all expressed a sadness that it never happened. We've all managed to get past that grief. Some of us have even convinced ourselves that we're better off now.
So leave us our fond memories of FS3 in peace and don't continually intrude on the memory of what could have been. In return we won't flame you to a crisp you F**king noobs!

That about sums up my feelings on the matter :D

Why are you guys getting so mad? Its not like FS3 was droped after they started it. It just never happened. And also I am not a noob. And in my last post I was talking about Aircraft simulations and war games. And also there will allways be people as long as this site stands that will talk about FS3 and there is no way anyone can stop em.
