Well considering we don't see planets in the background retreat away at 20miles/second it's obvious that FS2 ships can match the high speeds at which the planets are orbiting their star systems

It is entirely possible that the thrust we see is not static speed but rather relative acceleration... or some nonsense like that.

Relative acceleration isn't weird. Go read Einstein.
Space-warps, those are weird. And what you're looking for in this universe is called 'subspace drive,' Grim. There's no need for high speed normal space travel with that type of drive available.
