There are a few ways of easing the pain
Remember, if you have you Model Detail settings at full, the game doesn't use Lods at all.... that's what causes hiccups for the fenris etc for a lot of people, that and the size of the texture
And remember that if it's not shooting at them, the chances are the player isn't looking at it, so detail in Lods isn't as important as you think, look at V's lods, and yet, until Modelview was released, no-one complained about them

It doesn't? You mean the game is still rendering 7000 poly ships when they are 20,000m away? Bloody hell!Flipside wrote:Remember, if you have you Model Detail settings at full, the game doesn't use Lods at all.... that's what causes hiccups for the fenris etc for a lot of people, that and the size of the texture
That does explain why I could never see LOD1 for my styx class frigate even when I painted it bright purple though

no, i usually have the detail at full, cuz my computer can (barely) handel it.. the FS2 LOD transition leaves MUCH to be desired
its not a problem with the game, its just that to have a hegemonia-grade LOD transition with standard switching needs either a transition at like 10 km away or about 50 different models.
