Galactic Terran BattleShip

but it will more likely be GTCs (command ship) becashe thats what it is.

however, i AM making a money-maker ver$ion to sell on TurboSquid, a really neat online community of modellers :)

money-maker version. :) a super-high-poly thing.

ie, one heavy-turret has (im not kidding) 7000 polys triangulated.

then, theres my FS2 one.

once again, your support is overwhelming...

Well, good luck with the sales.

If you are going to try and sell ships - make sure you make all the textures yourself. Ie, don't use FS ones - copyright 'n all. ;)

Grim posted it 5 posts up -> http://turbosquid.com/

However, i somehow doubt that all that many people will be too interested in space ship models. There is also a good number already there - some of them excellent, some good and some attrocious.
That, and if anyone wants to make a movie/game with ships of some sort, they usually have a very specific idea they want to have implimented in terms of looks and function. TBH i don't think they get many sales at all as-is, especially with the prices that some of them want. :|

true, but thers osme flaws in your logic:
first, once you buy the model, you ARE allowed to modify it to a small degree(pretty sure), so long as you dont take credit for it, and make sure that ALL credit goes to whoever deserves it.
second, youd be surprised what kind of rich idiots go around and buy stuff
third, there is almost ALWAYS SOME demand for science ficiton stuff. besides, there are very few models up there that are anywhere near decent.

and dont worry, ill get me own textures :) prolly based off :V: ones though. they had some good textures...

swamp thing: you can make big bucks there :) the only drawback is you get 50% of the profits, they get 50% of hte profits. VERY hefty royalty thing. however, its totally free to post, browse, and buy (well, cept for the money you pay for hte model). ahve fun :)

Well, who, apart from game developers and sci-fi movie makers would want/have any sort of need for space ships that they would have to pay for?

Game developers will almost certainly have their own ideas for what they want their ships to look like, and most definitly will have enough skills to make them if they have enough to make a game.

Movie makers would want ships with millions of polys, specific functions if they use moving parts etc, and will probably need them to look a certain way anyway. They'd have even less incentive to buy their ships from somewhere like turbosquid than a game developer.

The only other possibility i could think of would be sci-fi authors, who may want some ships for their covers. But again, they would likely need some very specific things in them - and most of them are painted anyway. ;)

So the only people who are going to buy them are gamers... who are cheap bastards most of the time, and don't want to pay for stuff like that.

you forget the idiots who PAY for models :) there ARE some of those who just buy things for the pure joy of buying and using them in something useless.

and you also forget one ENORMOUS group (ok, not ENORMOUS, but big): the comic-strip/series makers. they buy the lowish-poly ships and use them to make short unprofessional free movies, or for comic strip things.

Never heard of them before, actually...

Somehow i don't think you'll encounter many people who will be stupid enough to pay big money for ships just to have them. ;)

Comic strip makers, assuming they don't just draw their ships, are again going to want ships with specific looks. :p

Unprofessional movie makers are not likely to buy ships and then release the final thing for free, but assuming they want to do so, they wouldn't feel inclined to pay money for someone elses models - means a loss for them.

If they want to charge for the final thing, they're more likely to find someone who can make ships for them or learn to make them themselves like many of us have already, since yet again they will have their own ideas they want done. ;)

I think that's a hijacked thread, right there.

Grim, do you have any other shots for us?
