Re: Stuff is broken

I just happened to check the site on a whim today and wondered if everything was okay. Turns out my ancient bookmark was "http" instead of "https" and it didn't automatically redirect. I should probably have it link directly to the forums for the moment.

The server was getting very old, so I decided to finally purchase a brand new one and migrate everything over. The final system updates were 4 years ago, and the forum was last updated about 6-7 years ago. In that process I had to also update PHP and in turn the forum software itself, but some things weren't supported so I had to re-install stuff from scratch. I didn't *have* to do all that, but it doesn't make sense to update everything and then keep old versions running.

The site used to re-direct to the forums by default, but now it's just a blank page. I might do something with that eventually as the homepage never served any real purpose. Maybe I can come up with some ideas to make proper use of Sectorgame as a domain after 20 years, hehe.

Most of my time has been taken up by getting the mail server up to standard. This was vital for my own interests, but also it helps to keep the forum (and any sites with user systems) in a 'workable' state.

I'm hoping to get the forums back to the old look, but it's been such a long time I've actually forgotten how to do it. So I will need to retrieve the source files from an old USB drive and figure it out, assuming it works with the new code changes.
