Interstellar object confirmed to be from another solar system

Astronomers are now certain that the mysterious object detected hurtling past our sun last month is indeed from another solar system. They have named it 1I/2017 U1(’Oumuamua) and believe it could be one of 10,000 others lurking undetected in our cosmic neighbourhood.

Damn you Guardian. I was hoping for a Shivan Juggernaut. But, that artist rendering... That's no asteroid!

I see this is picking up a trend in the news. We've had some wild theories including the possibility of an unmanned probe designed to slingshot around a target as part of a reconnaissance for a a larger craft, or an ancient alien ship that has lost all power drifting through the universe.

But it's probably still a rock. Not a natural shape, mind you...

Edit: Look at the trajectory of this thing:

The odds of a rock having that shape occur naturally, AND for it to make such a close pass to SOL's goldilocks zone and then to slingshot out?
