Do you dream when you lay in?

I find that if I wake up in the morning and then go back to sleep, I have the strangest dreams. The latest one I can remember, was some kind of fat mumma in my house coming towards me with the clear intention to kill me with her death stare. Having fired a shotgun at her, it had no effect as some kind of defense shield protected her. So I thought of the great idea that a knife would do the trick, as it's slow and not moving fast like a projectile. I proceed to maneuver around her and stabbed her in the neck, beginning to slice away in a circle hoping to get her head off. After two complete circles her skull fell onto the floor and that was that. I can vaguely remember the fear in my dream and it was a terrible feeling. I'm trying to figure out what triggered the dream. Farscape, Simpsons, Stargate.. all of which I watched before going to sleep.

And ofcourse, there was many more dreams I had - one of them quite sweet - just I can't remember the details. Oh boy, I wish I could though, because I can remember a sweet lady talking to me in the park like somekind of romantic movie. :D

I often dream I'm drowning, or holding my breath. I remember thinking (in the dream) "hmm, better start breathing again" and then I wake up, short of breath.

Wonder what would happen if I decided to not bother breathing......?

Between 5.5 to 7 hours, it's the sign you're getting old..., man...

:P

(No worries, I am keeping up my pace to follow the foot steps)

I've heard stories that people can die from that. Like they think they got stabbed or they think someone strangled them in their dream, so they think they're dead and stop breathing. Or something along those lines.

The old "if you hit the ground" when your falling from a great height will kill you in reality too is just an urban legend. That being said, most of the time if you think about it, everytime something bad happens to you in your dream the 'dream-you' seems to make light of it. I've had holes and cuts and bodyparts fall off in my dreams, but I'm none the wiser to the pain associated to it because it's just a dream. I'm not aware I'm dreaming to my unconscious mind. Yes, you can feel the fear but you cannot experience the pain.

75% of my dreams are comprised of something chasing me, or weird things happening. For instance, i am walking through my street and suddenly i find myself someplace else. That and a metal dog trying to bite me by the throat(i have a fear of dogs).

What i have noticed is the less i sleep, the longer my dream is. I can sleep for 10 hours and sometimes i don't even dream, but if i wake up 8 hours through it, and then go back to sleep, that's when the weirdness starts. Only problem is i always have nightmares so i am kinda afraid to go to sleep.
Is this better?

Nearly all of my dreams contain similar themes. Open clean spaces like parks and modern buildings. It's usually sunny but sometimes cloudy. Never rain nor wind. Various forms of transport including Cars, Buses, Trains, Planes and Subways often appear in my dreams - some quite futuristic. Also a common theme is mountains (really beautiful places) and huge waves by the seashore. Sometimes they are mixed together into a story, or sometimes just a few of those themes appear in my dreams. Either way, no matter what kind of dream I have, be it a romantic chase of some mysterious girl or flying around dark caverns in a really realistic Pyro-like craft and shooting things - Always the same themes appear.

Everyone dreams. Just not everyone can recall them. I only remember vague details about my dreams, and I can never ever recall them in length. My mum often talks about her dreams and describes them in detail as if she is reading a book. I envy that!
