Choppy chop.

Hello people. I used to post here, but I stopped. I don't remember why. Maybe my head fell off.

Anyway, I'm having an issue. I recently downloaded FS2 from HotU, so it's all updated and stuff. I haven't modded it or anything like that at all. Yadda yadda. Suffice to say, downloaded it off HotU and when I run it, there is a huge amount of choppiness. Not just in mission, though, I mean everywhere. When I start the game, as soon it comes up with the pilot selection it is choppy until I leave it.

Now, I had FS2 on my old computer and it worked fine. My old one was a celeron 2.9 that I had for the longest time and it could run the game fine. However, now that I have my new Athlon 4200+ with a gig of ram and a 256meg video card, it's running slow. That makes no sense to me. If anything, it should run too quickly. So anyway, I guess I'm just asking for help. I really miss this game and wanna play it, but my computer tends to disagree. I'll post more specs if you want. I can run TES: Oblivion with little or not choppiosity, but not this? WTF?

Anyway, if anyone has an idea of what the problem is, and preferrably how I can fix it, for the love of Mike, tell me.

Dual core right? If so I think you need to set the processor affinity to one core, or possibly upgrade to the latest version of FSO:

I don't have dual core, so I've not really been paying attention to what's been happening on that front, but I read somewhere that the processor affinity issue had been fixed in recent times, and even if not, it's well worth upgrading to 3.6.9 anyway. ;)

You freakin' ROCK, man. Haha. In case my enthusiasm doesn't give it away, FS works now, and I'm thirlled. I'm gonna go play until I'm late for work.

It probably asploded.
So who is this Mike chap anyway?
You are better off with FSO anyway with specs like that. Sexy graphics, fixes and new features are your reward for the download time and effort!
