Why did you choose your username?

OK then, time for some random chatter. How did you wind up with the username that you are known by today, on this very forum? Was it by the pressing of random keys, something that you used for something else but you couldnt be bothered to keep using different names, your favourite game character.... tell me, why?

I got mine from when I tried to register an online account for the Westwood game CnC Renegade. I got so frustrated when I found out that most of the names were taken that I typed in random letters and hit enter.

A quote from someone (can't remember the spelling) in Babylon 5, 'See you on the Flipside', just before the Scorched Earth incident :)

Though, admittedly, I knew that 'Flipside' meant the aftermath of a battle from before that.

Edit : It was Ivanova.

Waaay back in the day when I was a wee n00b, actually before I was even on the intarwebs, I used the Battletech design rules to make my take on the standard n00binator walking-PPC-battery-of-doom. I named it rather unimaginatively Nightmare, and since BattleMech model numbers normally relate to their name, the model designation was NGTM-1R.

I signed up under that name at the DropShipCommand boards and I've since used that as my screenname, though some places won't allow me the all-caps or the dash. Bastards.

Although because I forgot my Ezboard password I did briefly make use of Experimental Subject 651 as an alternate.

There was one thread i posted on here explaining just WHY i call myself blackhole. For one it was back in the days when i was like, 12, or i would have chosen something like Quasar or Galact or something.

Its quite simply because i held (and continue to hold) an intense fascination for black holes, although that fascination has extended to quantum physics and other things that end up violating all rules of physics. Don't even try to find something i don't know about them.

Whats really annoying is that the name seems to subconciously suggest that i am literally black, when in fact i'm a pastey-white USA nerd-geek. <_<

Of course, there are also several other nasty usages of the word, one of which aldo so graciasely brought up in some other thread.

I sometimes wish i could just change my damn name to Quasar.
