composed music

my latest composition. i dunno what i think about it tho. i think i've done better. you guys decided.
the song was based off of Command and Conquer's song Scout and i tried to keep a similar feel from the original song in this new version. heres a link to both the orig and my version. its also the longest song i've composed at 6 min long. if you haven't ever heard the original, i suggest you listen to it first.

Not particularly fond of the original, though your remake is pretty good as far as accuracy goes.

What time signature is this in? Seems kind of odd, which is really my main objection to it.

You converted it very nicely to a 4/4 feel, which I do appreciate. :) Yours is much better listening music; it seems like the original is somewhat better suited to ambient music.

One other thing you might work on adding is some variation. You notice in the original song, they had the occasional odd noise to break up the repetition of the main tune. Without that occasional break from the main theme, a tune becomes a little stale, especially in this long of a piece.

Still, a very nice composition. The synths are done pretty well, and fit the tune of the piece very nicely. :)

An improvement from the original Tiberian Sun version, certainly. Good but not great. I don't particularly blame you for that, as the original was one of the most annoying ones on the soundtrack...

...and I just realized I've had your last one sitting on my desktop all this time and still haven't listened to it.

EDIT: Gah, I can't believe I missed this. Note to BlackHole: What you Openlancer track should have been.

HAHA Black Hole, PWNED! (you guys can still use that song in openlancer if you want. if you want me to change parts of it to fit the game, cool with me. just tell me what.)

lol how did you *not* like the orig scout from TS? that was my fav song! i sometimes played that game *just* to listen to the song!
as for time sig, i don't think it really has one. it does have a 4/4 feel tho, like stryker said. as for the repetition, that was the one thing that bugged me about it. i couldn't find the right voices for the ambient background for the song so i did the best i could.

"you guys can still use that song in openlancer if you want"

Are you joking me?! That song does NOT fit into openlancer in any way possible, and i'm talking about your other one, not this one. None of your songs fit into openlancer. All the composers over at openlancer try to put classical tones in their compositions, and your songs are about as far from that as possible. So no. No no no no no, and it should NOT have been how the song went. I can list a billion reasons why it shouldn't be, but i won't, unless of course, you WANT me to, in which case i will be more than happy to oblige.

yeah, hearing simply a techno-touched remake ...

True, the melody is a earworm and really fine, and your remake of this "song" was, so i think, really a good technical job. :)

But the feeling of the origial i'm missing ...

The "scout" is melody-oriented, your's is more rhythm-oriented.
I think you try'd to force the "drive" of this song.

UPDATE: next piece in progress, an electronica piece. i'm already liking it *much* more than scouting run. its a fast-paced piece with a sweet distorted guitar undermelody and mysterious melody. will post when finished

*cough* MY melody *cough*

Course, i'm using your melody in one of my songs, so now we're even :D

Besides, its more that you are better at composing hard techno/electronica pieces, and i'm better with classical, new agey trance stuff.

And i'm the one with the melodies!
