Is it not spam to create a new thread to continue flaming?

Hey Hunter!!! The !spam! emoticon doesn't work!

Personally I think that was as stupid as FT's original transgresion
well then close that thread / reset that pricks' post count too. That still doesn't have anything to do with the Admins being over zealous

This thing has been blown out of proportions... by both sides I guess...

The only thing that matters here is - what was FT trying to say in that thread? You THINK you know, but do you really?
People jump to conclusions waaay to often....

And FT is a very talkative person....so yes...he has a high post count. since when is that a crime?

Wow, this is kinda disheartening. I always considered and endeavoured to make HLP a pretty friendly place for everyone. I know it has it's faults but we have a slew of people that simply don't want to follow the rules, there's far too much posting without thinking going on, clamp down on it and you get called a nazi, loosen up and you're called lazy. Finding a happy medium is exceptionally hard considering the vast array of people that frequent HLP. For the most part I'm happy to say that people do generally get on, new people are welcomed and most veterans have respect for each other. A minority (thankfully some of who no longer visit) are intent on being inflammatory for any and every reason. These people rarely see banning as a threat and carry on until we are forced to ban them, or they get bored and venture off to another set of forums.

HLP in my opinion has always been fairly well moderated considering its size. I'm hoping that it does have a welcoming atmosphere and it is interesting to hang out there, I've certainly found it so from before I became a moderator.
I'm open to suggestion on anything you guys think would make HLP more inviting, I try to help you all out as best as I can and I genuinely value your opinions and your work which is both inspiring and interesting. HLP is what everyone makes it, don't let a few people spoil everything that's been achieved there.

I don't think the problem was ever with the Moderators, in my particular case, I tended to find there are a lot of people there working really hard at C++ Coding and Direct X8 input routines etc etc that they get snappy at anyone asking about polygons and Lods, I think sometimes they forget that they, once upon a time, had to ask too :( I have been back on HLP in the last couple of days, just to be nosy, and it has improved, but I have to be honest with you, if I had a problem here that no-one in TI could fix, I'd be almost afraid to post it on HLP for fear of getting slammed as a Newbie.

As for spamming etc, I'm not even certain what it is! Maybe I do it, maybe I don't. I post the occasional non-relevent post, if it's funny, or if I've overdone it on the Kahlua, but I think I have to agree with Knight Templars sentiment, if not his precise words, in saying that non-relevant posts should be posted away from the main discussions, where they will not annoy people who want to get stuff done and are often waiting for an answer to a question which will allow them to do that.

I can't comment for FT as I was not there, but I sometimes wonder if some of the members of HLP could do with a gentle reminder that if anything is going to happen with SCP and the campaigns produced using it, they are going to have to be willing to accept new faces and old questions, while self gratification is a wonderful motivator for doing new FS stuff, they deserve recognition for their work, and that will only be judged by how many new faces they can attract.

Anyway, take your choice whether it's relevant or Kahlua ;)

Non relevant posts are generally restricted to the Hard light forum, you'll find very little in the other forums.

How where you made to feel insecure on HLP? I'd like some examples so that I can look into this.

Thanks.

I'm not going to start pointing fingers at people in HLP, as I said before, it is better than it used to be in this respect, and I don't frequent HLP enough to really comment on many points, but in this thread, there is a post which stands out like a sore thumb as what I would define as an 'Annoyed HLP member' post. It's not the posters fault at all, nothing he has said actually offends me, and to a certain degree he is right, but I guess it is a question of attitude.
When I first joined F2S Waaaaay back (The first time, which was back in 1999-2000 I think), I was a complete Newbie, not just to FS2 modding, but to Forums as well, and I posted a 'Oh look, the 100th thread in F2S!' message, little knowing the thread count had been reset about 15 times already :)
I did not get flamed by a single person, I just got a perfectly polite post that didn't call me a ##### or tell me I stunk, it simply said that they had reached 100 several times now so it was no big deal :)
I suppose that's one of the things I really like about everyone at F2S, if HLP is a Nightclub, then F2S is the chillout room ;) But then, I'm over 30 now, and enjoy the quiet life, well apart from the scream of Beam Weapons and the occasional Roadkill in Vice City ;)

You actually think post count matters? You're taking this so seriously that you have to b**ch about it on another forum? What did I do:

Did I curse and swear? No.
Did I insult him? No.
Did I ban him? No.
I reset his post count. Big. Freaking. Deal. You won't even notice it unless you actually look for it.

Resetting a post count is about as innocuous as it comes. I don't see why you're making a fuss over it or seeing it as somehow malicious. It was done as a joke, as the ' :p ' at the end of my post should suggest. Post count means nothing. Accepting what happened shows more maturity then bitching about it. People will know you by what you do, not how many posts you make.

Seriously, this is getting tiresome. I've already gotten three PMs over such an inconsequential matter. If you're going to b**ch about something, at least b**ch about something that's worth my time. That means people's behavior. Not if you lost your post count as a result of a thread you made. If you have a problem with what people are saying, there's a 'report post' option. It's there to be used. If you have a problem I'll see what I can do to help. But I will baby no-one.

Furthermore, Free Terran, do not continue pestering my admins for special titles. That is one of the reasons you recieved the post count reset. It has always been HLP policy that the admins choose a person's title, generally based on hosted projects they are associated with. You have had yours changed several times to titles you demanded. If you keep bothering my staff over little things like that you will lose your title for good.
