Well, I've read the first few chapters of Mr Thompsons book, out of personal interest since I have been following this case, with mixed emotions.
My emotions were mixed not because of Mr Thompson, but because I always felt that GTA was 'one step beyond' what should be expected of a game and that game manufacturers should take more steps to regulate their own content, but another part of me always thought 'Yeah, but if you were a Police Officer using a Rocket Launcher of gangster cars, does that make you a better person?'
Anyway, the first chapter begins with a playgroundesque attack on Howard Stern, calling him Coward Stern
It then goes on to start attacking Janet Reno in paragraph 2.
By Paragraph 3, possibly the few active neurons in Mr Thompsons brain decided to stop huddling together for warmth and reminded him what the book is about, because he suddenly jumps back in time to when he met his wife and was studying law. This doesn't last long though, since it's not long before he's back to attacking Ms Reno.
Then he talks of his failure to pass his exams the first time round and claims 'I blamed 'things'. never myself'. Following up with the story of how he found his Christianity and got over his blaming his life on other people.
What makes me laugh is that Mr Thompson then launches full-force into doing precisely that! Most of the book is based on unproven, or, more scarily, disproven fact.
I thought at first that Mr Thompson was doing it for the media attention, it is becoming apparent though that he is, in fact, a terribly insecure, uneducated, conclusion jumping borderline nut-job.
His writing is disjointed, jumps from location and timeframe with each paragraph and actually made very very little sense in a lot of places. A lot of it is told from a persecuted 'holier than thou' point of view. I would be genuinely interested to see what a Phsycho-analyst would make of his writing style.
In short. It's all true.

hehehe Well, following threats from Mr Thompson, Amazon have kindly removed over 200 reviews from Amazon, and just left the sensible ones, which means his book has lost half a star in the ratings and is now on one instead of 1.5

He's an American lawyer who tried to sue RockStar for releasing Grand Theft Auto after one kid did a copycat attack.
This, in itself isn't so terrible, however, he has carried this to a point of hatred for every teenager that plays computer games, convincing himself that all 'Pixelantes' as he calls them are low intelligence teenagers who shouldn't be playing ANY computer games whatsoever. He wrote a book and timed the release to match the trial with Sony (which has so far led to him being barred from law in the county the trial is taking place in, thanks to his antics).

He's a dick who is a fundamentalist Christian nutcase (a self termed 'soldier of God'), who blames video games for all violence, ever. He has compared Sony releasing (well, not exactly as they didn't actually release it) GTA as a 'new Pearl Harbour', accused Rockstar North of racism and stereotyping whilst describing them as drunken Scots wearing kilts, claimed the Sims was an effective paedophilia simulator with accurately modelled 'nipples and labia', proposed a violent game design for killing the US ratings board & Take 2 heads (he promised to give money to charity if is was made and released - he reneged when mod teams did this, so Penny Arcade donated the money in his name. He then tried to sue them for extortion as a result), ran a political campaign centred around the homophobic campaign of Janet Reno (his opponent), slandered numerous people, been barred from law in Alabama for his behaviour, was involved in the 'Hot Coffee' fiasco over GTA:SA and soforth.
One famous incident was him trying to sue Rockstar in the UK, claiming the game Manhunt caused a murder. The investigating police announced that a) the game belonged to the victim and b) the motive was robbery, but he flat out ignored that, allowing our idiotic tabloid media to wage a somewhat succesfull 'ban' campaign. (namely, some shops banned it, but sales probably rose overall).
He's a prize A w#nk#r with no legal ability and the intellectual and oratory capacity of your average forum troll. Literally. He coins money off of ambulance chasing and bandwagon jumping, reaping celebrity from the bodies of anyone killed in a gun accident.
