I just got back in from that same county about twenty minutes ago. This joker killed a judge, a deputy, and a court reporter, for those who haven't noticed, and he probably killed a federal cop this morning (Customs, not FBI or ATF). I wasn't that far from the area he was caught yesterday afternoon, in fact.
Having people like this running around can be pretty concerning.

He's a mindless primitive though. He was up for rape. It's possible he could've been out in 5-10 years. Now, he'll be lucky if they don't put him under the jailhouse. The cops should've shot and killed him and then claimed he provoked them.

Hell, they caught him in the morning. And Lib, he's not mindless. That's the scary part. Besides, as much as I sympathize with your position, I have to defend the GCPD's decision out there. You can't just shoot a suspect if he's not armed and has surrendered. It degrades the moral underpinnings of the American legal system.

He is mindless. He was in a position he felt was untenable and reverted to violence to escape it.
Also, he shot and killed a judge, his clerk and a Federal Customs officer, the cops could've whacked him and claimed self defense and no one would've cared.

Lib, listen. Whether or not they could have gotten away with it (and I agree, they probably could have), it still violates the law for summary executions to occur. It is a viloation of the principles this country was founded on.

I know, I'm just saying they could've and probably should've. They've got him dead to rights for 3 murders and no one can dispute that.
Now the People of the State of Georgia have to pay upkeep on him until such time as the Law is satisfied that he deserves to die or succumbs to complications resulting from old age, whichever comes first.

Meh. You only have to get a death row conviction wrong once to turn it into state-sanctioned murder (just look at Kenny Richie); hence why i oppose it as a form of punishment.
That and I remember a tale of a South African prisoner bemoaning the introduction of Nelson Mandelas government - because it outlawad execution for life imprisonment, and he now had to face up to an indefinite period of imprisonment with no prospect of ever being free (at least being executed ended the misery....).

@Lib: Not much. I don't agree with a lot of what he has to say (very surprising for a Democrat, I know). I also don't live in WSB 750's reliable transmission range (sometimes I can get them out in Carrollton, sometimes I can't).
Aldo, the real problem is they aren't careful enough and still take too much time to deal with the cases, rendering it a virtually impotent form of punishment.
