A bit of Earth faction fan-fiction

#1
I decided to write this in my spare time. It is mainly a concept description for an Earth faction. This would of course be formed after the events of the Great War and nation-state fighting like in Inferno: Alliance, taking power through the next phases of history while the GTVA face their own problems. It is not in anyway based off the United Earth from Blue Planet: War in Heaven of course.

Anyway, here it is, my concept for the "United Sol Federation":

--Intelligence File #00612--

Subject: United Solar Federation
Article Version: V3.14

"The United Solar Federation is the most central governing and militarised superpower in the Solar System.

Forgotten events in year 2335 lead to the almost-inevitable destruction of the Solar system by a massive war vessel from the mysterious Race-X and the collapse of the Sol-Delta Serpentis jump node. These events isolated the forces of the Galactic Terran Alliance from the numerous star systems it had discovered and colonised, as well as heavily crippling its economy, military power and availability of resources. As a result, the GTA dissolved, leaving with its demise years of civil unrest and barbaric squabbling from nation-state powers breaking away from the once great superpower.

It would not be until September the twelth in the year 2339 when these dark moments would subside. Ten days later, after joint peace acts taking place on Planet Earth, the leader of the nation states would emerge, bringing grand news to its followers and socities. By September the twenty-ninth, it would be known system-wide known that a unified entity, the United Solar Federation, had been born at last.

The original government of the Federation was made by representatives trailed and selected from the six nation states present during the years 2335 and 2339. Nowadays, it is made up of specially-appointed planetary governers or military generals drawn from all the major and habitable planets such as Mars. The appointed authoraties on these worlds are placed in charge of the political and military activites in accordance with Federation law and protocol as laid down by the unified government. Alongside Federation High Command, its central headquarters has come to rest at Earth, the previous centre of power for the disbanded Earth Alliance.

The Federation continues the naming conventions of the Galactic Terran Alliance. All spaceraft and warships commissioned by military and non-military divisions, organisations or branches are officially classified with US (United Solar), followed by an appropriate letter(s) based on the class of vessel. For example, the Valkyrie II interceptor would be officially classified as the USF Valkyrie II. A name for a chassis or design is tradtionally identified from Greek, Roman or Norse mythology, primarily after a god, creature or being. Individual names for commissioned vessels themselves generally come from famous figures, cities, civilisations or war machines present duing past human history.

Compared to previous subfactions, nation states or the Galactic Terran Alliance, the military power of the Federation is relatively small in size. Namely, the reasons for this abnormality are the non-existence of subspace nodes that lead outside of the Solar system and very few events in recent decades which require military action to take action or maintain the peace. However, it is very rare for any of the major planets to not have a sizeable enough defensive or peacekeeping force in scenarios such as open rebellion or planetary disaster."

Let me know what you think.

I don't really get the "forgotten events" or "Race-X" phraseology. If everyone still remembers the existence of the GTA, how could they not know the term "Shivans"?
A.K.A. Mongoose, for you HLP denizens

I have an updated version here, with lots of grammar fixes, rewording and some newer text:

"The United Solar Federation is the most central governing and militarised superpower in the Solar System.

Forgotten events in the year 2335 led to the almost-inevitable destruction of the Solar system by a massive war vessel from the mysterious Race-X and the collapse of the Sol-Delta Serpentis subspace node. These events isolated the forces of the Galactic Terran Alliance present in Sol from the numerous star systems it had discovered and colonised, as well as heavily crippling it's economy, military power and availability of resources. As a result, the GTA dissolved, leaving with its demise years of civil unrest and barbaric squabbling from intersystem states formed from the once great superpower.

It would not be until September the twelth in the year 2339 when these dark moments would subside. Ten days later, after joint peace acts and conferences taking place on Planet Earth, the leaders of the intersystem states would emerge, bringing grand news to their followers and socities. By September the twenty-ninth, it would be known system-wide that a unified entity, the United Solar Federation, had been born at last.

The original government of the Federation was made by representatives trialed and selected from the six intersystem states present during the years 2335 and 2339. This tradition continues to stand. Specially-appointed planetary governers or military generals watch over all the major and habitable planets such as Mars. These appointed authoraties maintain political and military activites in accordance with Federation laws and protocols as laid down by the unified government. Alongside Federation High Command, its central headquarters has come to rest at Earth, the previous centre of power for the disbanded Earth Alliance.

The driving principles or beliefs behind the Federation are unity and stability. These were both agreed on by the original six representatives of the government; the generalised opinion that a unified and stable society is the way of the future and that the children of Solar waging war upon itself out of greed, dominancy or war for its own sake will mean nothing but the end of days. Although the forces of Solar possess neither the means or knowledge, the Federation also believe in the day a path leading outside of Sol emerges; the day humanity can truely return to the height it once rose to; to discover what became of their lost brethren and the systems beyond the collapsed subspace node to Delta Serpentis.

Primarily, the reasons for this abnormality are the non-existence of subspace nodes that lead outside of the Solar system and very few events in recent decades which require the military to take action or maintain the peace. However, it is very rare for any of the major planets to not have a sizeable enough defensive or peacekeeping force in scenarios such as open rebellion or planetary disaster."

And I better explain the other stuff:

Because the Solar system has seen massive fighting and rapid changes over the decades, it's not unnatural for some archives of information to go missing.

Because of this and not exactly knowing the full extent of what happened on the other side, it's not like the Federation would fully be aware of the Shivans. All they have, or more like had, about this species was debris from the front section of the Lucifer. They do know some things, but not all of it.

The federation can trace its origins to the Galactic Terran Alliance, but too much further than that. Most of the GTA's records were lost in the fighting and not many people cared about them at the time. They only cared really about who was gonna be the dominant power.

Anyway, I hope this description makes some more sense.

Now now, a mod out of this? Interesting suggestion. I might consider that actually, for I love the thought.

Mainly, this was just intended to be a bit of fan fiction.

I've done some more writing. This would be a smallish enemy the federation could fight. Not really how I intended but anyway, here it is:

--The Kah'a Rai Cult--

"Emerging from the shadows of our home system and upseting the balance of peace, the Kah'la Rai Cult has of recent become both a major spotlight and threat to the forces of the Federation. The existence of the cult was not apparent or known until ten years ago during a peacekeeping operation at the Akula colony of Mars. A raid on an insurgent base by Federation Colonial Marines uncovered unusual ancient-text based documents amongst the incriminating findings, which led to a shocking discovery after long attempts of interpretation.

The Kah'la Rai cult is a religious and fanatical organisation comprised of followers from many of the minor worlds and USF members who have secretly defected. According to the documents, the Kah'la Rai had been formed almost sixteen years ago on the far side of planet Jupiter, a worrying problem to Federation High Command. If this part is true, it explains countless occasions of Federation assets or members of the military branch suddenly disappearing without a trace. It also raised concern that there may be places or planets the Federation is not aware of.

The cult believes in the existence of an unknown species. Their description of this species, although not highly detailed, appears somewhat resemblant to Race-X. Wether it is they who the Kah'la Rai refer to remains unclear. The cult believes this species is destined to one day come out of hiding and exact judgement upon any who stray beyond their ordained place in the universe. This has been interpreted to imply those who heavily rely upon or use subspace.

Until six years ago on March the Twenty-Second, the cult had been dismissed as nothing but folklore and spook stories, due to the fact no member of the Kah'la Rai had ever been physically encountered before. It would be on this day that contact with members of the cult took place for the first. While on patrol near the planet Saturn, the UCS Calliope reported to Federation High Command it had come under attack by fighters and bombers not recognised on official databases and bearing unusual markings. Cross Analysis of video footage taken from the Calliope and the documents recovered from the Akula Colony on Mars confirmed the worst. The cult was alive after all. It has been since this day forward that the Military of the Federation has had to do battle with it.

In terms of combat size and strength, the cult has contionusally been debated and considered. Reports primarily indicate the Kah'la Rai do not possess any type of craft above cruiser class. However, the cult has managed to accquire Federation cruisers on several occassions, bringing our own firepower against us. In the majority of engagements, they rely on a small but specialized range of fighters and bombers. While not incredibly resilient in terms of hull and shield strength, all the cult's spacecraft feature the same characteristics; incredibly fast, highly manuveurable and featuring highly-damaging weapons not employed by the Federation. Of late, the numbers and ferocity of combat engagements have been increasing, and the cult has resorted to acts of terrorism and guerilla warfare.

All sightings or encounters with the Kah'la Rai cult are to be immediately reported to either Federation command or the nearest high-ranking authority. Under no circumstances should any member of the Federation, wether a pilot, officer or otherwise attempt to engage the Cult without being in sufficent numbers. It is heavily advised not to pursue or engage members of the Kah'La Rai unless there is no alternative available or in self-defense."
