Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a
story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in
your hands. In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event,
annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth's surface into a
poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the
Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age. The year
is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their
besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the
mutant horrors that await outside. You are Artyom, born in the last days
before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your
Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to
the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible
impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath
the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine
the fate of mankind.

Anyone tried it yet? Or heard of it at all? It's pretty awesome

Been watching this game on live feed - it seems a little lacking in the story department, but the atmosphere seems very cool and somewhat comparable to Fallout 3's underground world.

It's like Fallout 3 and STALKER. Just that it's more realistic than those, in a way. I liked the storyline a lot. There are gaps, sure, but that's probably because it's based on a book.

BUMPing, and sorry with the doublepost. But seriously, people, this game is awesome. Just look at how it's graphics look like, surpasing even Crysis. Epic music and story also add up, making it the best game of its class.
P.S. Hunter, you're "kinda" featured in it

Ooh, so the environments are even shinier shades of gray and/or brown, then?
A.K.A. Mongoose, for you HLP denizens

But don't worry, only a few months until Crysis 2 now

" Hunter appearing at the front gates of Exhibition "
The art style reminds me of EVE.

Yep. Best of all, that shot's in-game.
Oh, and by the way: Metro 2033 DLC incoming. New difficulty levels, called 'Ranger Mode' and 'Ranger Hardcore', to bring more realism into the game, as well as the survival feel.
It also adds 2 new weapons, one of which could have only been gained by pre-ordering the game, until now.

Finally got around to this, what a game! Bit of an iffy ending, though. Wasn't a big fan of some decisions made by the developers. For example, a handful of grenades can not kill a Librarian, but a hit from a snow plow can?

Yeah, but it was hit by a car, not a train... Hm anyway, gripes aside, Metro 2033 was a pretty awesome experience. Maybe I should post some FRAPS of it?
