An interesting video from the latest Red Faction game. Seems Volition are giving Descent fans a big present here.
Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#2Now wait a minute here...brainstorm coming on...
...didn't the first Red Faction game deal with a "Humans-first rebellion" that was mentioned in one of the Descent briefings? If so, then it was probably only meant as a cookie for fans, but...
I'm getting a lot of Descent vibes from this, so much so I have to wonder if there's a purposeful, ulterior, motive behind it...
But even if there isn't...yeah, great to see such strong Descent vibes again.

Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#3This could open up an entirely new avenue for a Descent mod in Red Faction.

Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#4Wasn't somebody from the Descent community involved in Red Faction? Or was that some other game?
Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#5If you mean the first game - well, technically everyone was. The first Red Faction was originally Descent 4 in it's early stages. Not sure about the later games. Obviously some of the original staff are still there, including the CEO whom ofcourse is one of the masterminds behind the original Descent games.

Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#6I remember going through the first Red Faction game (which had truly awful character animation IIRC) looking to see if they'd slipped in a stray Deimos or something. Sadly not.
Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#7I vaguely remember seeing something similar in the end cutscene.

#8Holy crap, look at the targeting reticule.

Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#9Yeah, I noticed that too. Like to see Volition try and deny that they copied that and keep a straight face.

Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#10Could be an idea from Mike Kulas - seeing as he is now stepping down as CEO.

#12Tsch. And I named a ship after him and everything.Could be an idea from Mike Kulas - seeing as he is now stepping down as CEO.
Re: The 'Inferno GX'
#13Ooo... I hope this pans out into something moddable into a Descent game... And it being Multi-platform...

#14I'm going to be looking at this as soon as it's available - From there, I will see what kind of options are available for a Descent mod.

#15Hopefully it'll have joystick support. From there, it's downhill.
