Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
47What's the point in having 3 monitors if not to do this sort of thing? Leftmost is the original DVD release. Rightmost is the HBO upgrade and in the middle is a fan-made version I managed to get a few episodes of. It kind of shows that it is possible to improve the DVD version significantly if the willpower was there.
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
48Seems like they're 4:3 and cropped? The upscale version I have (which I grabbed in 2019 IIRC) is 16:9 and uncropped. I'm fairly sure JMS Intended B5 to be viewed in 16:9, I could be mistaken though.
A full remaster wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility nowadays, but the CGI is still likely cost prohibitive even with the technological improvements since the topic was first raised with JMS. It'd be cheaper and easier to do now than it was back in 2007 etc, but still so many effect shots would require a LOT of work.

49Kara summed it up with those screens The CGI wouldn't be expensive if they re-used the same 3D models in the new show
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
50Be warned that the HBO versions appear to have some missing scenes. Babylon squared for instance is about 3 minutes shorter, losing the scene where Delenn gets the triluminary and the scene where Sinclair and Ivanova talk about the Flying Dutchman.
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
51Got mine through apple store. Funny thing is you simply mentioning those scenes, they just play back in my head. What happens when you watch something too much
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
52I happened to see a random guy in the supermarket wearing a Babylon Five t-shirt.
It was just the outline of a shadow vessel - looked like something from redbubble.

Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
53Not much decent scifi apparel out there.
At least something B5 is coming soon, new animation - w00t. Hopefully some live-action show or movies to follow

Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
54Are they still doing that CW show? I think it was shelved. So now it's an animation? Hmmm.... Well Star Trek Prodigy & Lower Decks aren't bad, I guess.
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
55Has anyone else watched The Road Home? I enjoyed it, but it didn't set my world on fire.
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
56I didn't even know about it - I've not really been following fandoms much these dayas. Will check it out soon
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
57Yeah, the remake is currently in limbo cause of the writers strike, but The Road Home was a different thing entirely.
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
58Wasn't that impressed but it had some good moments. It was interesting to see
I didn't much care for the silly jokes and humour. And there was so many scenes just rehashed 'because ma nostalgia-bait' , but I think this would've made a better live action than Legend of the Rangers for sure. Great to hear some of the original cast again, and the recastings weren't terribly off putting.
Re: The random Babylon 5 vomiting thread
59Haven't seen it myself yet, but just saw a trailer for it - plot looks okay - getting sick of this whole Sheridan center of universe push.
LOTR was so chessy, but it had several good ideas and moments.
