Good job, Flipside. The whole theme was well blended. However, I don't like the bits at 1:30 min and 2:30 min when you introduced a new background melody which the "chuk-chuk" sound. I think it crashed the voilin and the nice base you have.

My only complaint with it is it feels to me like it's leading up to something but doesn't actually get there, like there should be a climax of some sort. But yeah, other than that, awesome work once again Flipside.

Thanks for the comments :)

The 'techno'-type rhythm I have going on over the Brass section was actually intended to give it a more 'modern' drum sound, as the SCP is a more 'modern' version of FS2, still deciding if I like it, it is a bit 'reedy'. And yes, it might still build up to something, but I looked at the tune length and it was at 4mins+ so thought I'd at least post something in case I was barking up completely the wrong tree. I'd like at some point to put something 'big' between the Pizzicato section ( 3:24 onwards) and what I think of as the 'Aquitane theme'.

The last bit... where you play the aquitaine theme... can you slow it down a little bit, and make it more like the original? It just sounds wrong going too fast.

The rest is A+

Sounds fantastic. :D Some comments:

The first 30 seconds or so sound very similar to the Last of the Mohicans theme song. That was the first thing I thought of when it started up. ;)

The four-note FS2 theme which you include starting at 1:29 is one of my favorites. :D I like the way you did it here, but IMHO your best one is in "evacuation". But that's not my main question - have you thought of doing an adaptation of the four-note theme from FS1? It also shows up in the ending score from FS2 (during Petrarch's final monologue).

I agree with Raa, slow down the Aquitaine thing at the end.

Karajorma, I couldn't hear anything special at 2:54. :p What does it sound like?

The Aquitaine thing at the end is at a fine speed IMO. It just seems like it ought to segway into a longer section (which, not coincidentally, would sound great as a battle track for fighting the GTVA/GTA).

What did you compose this with? It sounds great!

(Also, apparently, thread necromancy.)

Heh, Forum Necromancy ;)

Yup, I've still got the file somewhere, I need to look at extending or altering the tune, though lately, I've been mucking around with Fraps and Freespace myself ;)

It was done mostly on Cubase SX using VST Synths, in particular one called Edirol Orchestral Synth, which is an absolutely awesome Synth for the kind of stuff I do, haven't done music for a while though, since my headphone socket is busted, so I have to stop at around 8pm, cos my neighbor starts work at 6am :(

Cubase SX is easy to use, but a bit of a nightmare to set up in the first place. Especially if you're using VST instruments, since you have to start looking at things like latency and ASIO drivers etc.

You need a pretty high end sound card to be able to use it properly as well, Soundblaster Audigy or the like is good, though I use a specialised card.

Let me know when you have the time to spare, and I'll help if I can :D
