More diverse and unique storyline, better uber-enemy ships, better weapons (beam cannons, anyone? :D), a greater variety of mission types (see Bearbaiting/Into the Lion's Den), more missions, and better voiceacting (Robert Loggia rocks :)). I liked the look of the place, so I decided to take root, kind of like this mysterious plant you keep referring to :P. Robo, I can have two mistresses: Descent and Freespace. As long as I stick to multiplayer on the former and singleplayer on the latter, neither one seems to mind :P.
