Re: Have a look at this.

There are several Terran loanwords on the nodemap, or in the legend. Whoever can pick all 7 of them out gets a cookie. (Four are English, two are Greek, and one is Finnish.) (Edit: Changed my mind. You don't get to look at the alphabet just yet -- I want to see if anyone can pick out anything withou...

Re: Have a look at this.

A few clues to help anyone who's actually interested in transliterating this: 1) The filename's written in big bold letters on the map. 2) Rolled R counts as a different letter from normal R. Same with L/Ll, and with P and overdone P. 3) Two letters should look familiar. (Plus a third if you know ho...

Re: Have a look at this.

And for those who are wondering: - Yes, I came up with this alien language, with (so far) relatively coherent grammar and its own alphabet. - No, the alphabet isn't a cypher for English or any other Earth language. It's phonetic. - Yes, I have far too much time on my hands. This map in particular ca...

I can see groundwork for one on Mars starting quite soon to be honest, more as a promotional thing than anything else. But I doubt we'll actually see anything resembling progress for at least 30 years, and then it'll be a tiny little research station that will house a few people for 2-3 months. Due...

RL space colonization

Sorry for my absence over the past few months. Work (and an unexpectedly resurgent social life) have eaten up large gobs of my time. But in any case... Since the bunch of us are sci-fi geeks (playing Freespace and all), I wonder what everyone here thinks about the prospect of colonizing Mars, the mo...

The Aquitaine thing at the end is at a fine speed IMO. It just seems like it ought to segway into a longer section (which, not coincidentally, would sound great as a battle track for fighting the GTVA/GTA).

What did you compose this with? It sounds great!

(Also, apparently, thread necromancy.)

I'm tempted to add an Arch Enemy track or two to ETF myself (the instrumentals Snowbound and Vox Stellarum would both be very fitting for a quiet space scene) but I doubt it'd be legally kosher to do so.

While the Tuket was my concept, it was Fulgrymm's model. I can't model for beans, much less texture anything. Besides which, the Tuket is a 2374 design. The Ne'arin, on the other hand, is supposed to have been designed in 2326. I suppose I could just add some dockpoints to an Aten... but I really do...

Okay. I now only require one model -- the PVC Ne'arin, a Vasudan cruiser designed to carry four fighters externally. (Or rather, 3 fighters and one bomber.) But I can do about 3/4 of the missions without it. I've also upped the cutscene count to nine; the one I just added to the list is very short s...

Cool, that would be awesome :D

Any possibility of having a Tech Entries section? I could write up a little addition to the backstory (like you saw earlier in this thread, but more detailed) and stuff it in there each week or so, to pump up interest.
